30 years ago today, while I was on Easter break of my Grade 12 year, I started working at Precision; sweeping floors and cleaning up in the shop. The first 15 years of my career was dedicated to the equipment service and repair side of our business. I started working after school, on the weekends and throughout my first summer until I started the Heavy Equipment Technology Program at NAIT in the fall of 1996. All the while traveling back and forth from Edmonton to work on the weekends and throughout the summers, eventually gaining my journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician hours and certification in 1999. In 2005 I assumed full time Service Manager responsibilities before moving into the General Manager position in 2012 and onto the President role in 2015. Moving into the main office was one of my biggest challenges but it's an achievement that’s taught me a lot, and I owe everything I’ve learned to these great people; Pim Page, Rick Goulet, Neil L’Heureux, Al Goodfellow, Heather Schiller, Tom Hollington, and so many others. I’ve always had the utmost respect for Pim and the business he built, and I’m honoured to be apart of Precision’s 40-year history. As I prepared this post, I realized that I have hundreds of pictures of our equipment, our people, and our projects, but very few of me because I seem to be behind the camera most of the time. However, the picture I've posted brings back a great memory of when I received my first brand-new service truck in the early 2000's. I was so excited to get that truck that the picture is me showing it off to my dad in his driveway where I grew up. I was so excited for the new truck that I didn't bother to check the fuel, and it died just as I pulled up to my house later that evening. I put a lot of km’s on that truck before I moved out of the field and into the office and the experience I gained chasing our equipment all over Alberta and Saskatchewan is something I will always be proud of. As we continue to celebrate our 40-year anniversary I invite “Precision People” from the past and present to join in and share pictures and stories of the great times we've had over the years.Sincerely,Frank Tremmel ... April 1, 1986, was the day Precision Contractors was officially incorporated in the Province of Alberta.To celebrate our 40-year history of serving Alberta and Saskatchewan with top quality Oilfield Lease Construction, Reclamation and Civil Earthwork services; over the next several months we will be celebrating our story and showcasing our achievements and the people who made it all possible. Beginning with how it all began.It’s common knowledge throughout the equipment industry that Elwin (aka. Pim) Page founded Precision Contractors Ltd.; however, most people likely don’t know what happened before that. Pim started PIM Oilfield Services in 1973 when he was 27 years old. He rented his first dozer and began doing odd jobs around Maidstone Saskatchewan. He worked the dozer to save enough money to buy a second machine, and it continued to grow from there until the economic downturn of the 1980’s. Times were tough for everyone, especially in the oilfield so Pim sold most of his equipment so he could survive the crash. Throughout these years Pim was involved in several other ventures which included Page Oilfield Consultants, Lloydminster Spill Services and Quality Tire to name a few. Although many of these companies have long been forgotten, they all bring back memories of the early days before Precision started in 1986.Although Pim hasn’t been involved in Precision for a few years, his legacy of high expectations of our people, our equipment, what we do, how we do it, and most importantly how we treat our customers will always be the foundation that built Precision. We can’t say enough about how much we appreciate what Pim has done for us to support our success so we can continue serving our great customers and the hundreds of employees and their families that have relied on us over the years.
